MLB Lines & Betting Odds
The current season of the MLB is ongoing and individual markets are plentiful, with Money Lines, Run Lines and other markets available, which are detailed further down this article.
The ‘Futures’ market is a good indicator of the form of each side, with the MLB betting odds provided on the Divisional, League and World Series titles fluctuating as the season progresses.
The current World Series odds have the Houston Astros and New York Yankees as joint favourites, with both at +400 to win the World Series.
For the American League, it’s those same Astros and Yankees who cannot be separated in the betting market, with both currently +225 favourites, while the Boston Red Sox at +350 could be a dark horse. The National League is more open, with the Chicago Cubs +350 favourites, while the Los Angeles Dodgers at +500 could be a surprise outsider.
In terms of divisional betting, there is not too much value out there, but the National League West has the Dodgers at +125 and the Milwaukee Brewers in National League Central are +150 and stand out as some good value bets.
MLB Betting Offers
There are a variety of bet types on the MLB, with the Futures market dealing with Divisional, League and World Series outright betting, with players picking the winner, with odds much bigger than for individual matches. Those individual MLB matches start with the ‘Money Line’, the simplest type of wager, where the bettor picks the winner of the game overall
The ‘Run Line’ is the equivalent of the ‘Points Spread’ bet, with bookmakers offering and handicap of 1.5 runs between the two teams with the favourite getting a minus figure and the underdog a positive figure. So if the New York Yankees are expected to beat the Red Sox, the Yankees would be given -1.5 handicap, while the Red Sox would be +1.5 virtual head start. So if you bet on the Yankees they would need to win by two runs, while the Red Sox could still lose by one run for the bet to be won.
Other bets include a Over/Under Total Runs market, along with the market for the first five innings, also known as F5, which takes the result at the end of the fifth innings only This makes for an interesting market, as starting pitchers affect the markets.
MLB Betting Tips
On current form, the World Series looks a two-horse race, with any side other than the Yankees and Astros picking up the Commissioner’s Trophy at the end of the season looking unlikely. However, the Yankees look a great bet to once again take a twenty-eighth World Series title.
